Theoretical calculation of heat and mass balance during retorting process of semi-coke production

Abstract
In order to verify the feasibility of retorting process of Shenmu Sanjiang type rectangular gas combustion retort( SJ-retort) for semi-coke producing,Shenmu bituminous coal( SM coal) was taken to study the heat and mass balance during retorting process of SJ-retort combined with the basic properties analysis of SM coal,pyrolsis product,structure and process of SJ-retort.Results show that the heat requirement of 1 t SM coal retorting( 1 299. 08 MJ) can be satisfied by its heat transfer of retorting products( 634. 83 MJ) and retorting gas( 23. 37 m~3) combustion( 664.25 MJ),and 1/2 surplus retorting gas is obtained.In steady state of retorting system,total feed and totl output are 1 406 and 1 390 kg,which loss is 16 kg.Calculated results also reveal that the total input gases,output gases,recycle gases,new input air and release gases at steady state of retorting system are 238,276,94,144 and 182 m~3,respectively indicating a dynamic equilibrium of various types gases.
