Abstract:
In chemical looping combustion (CLC), the development of high-performance oxygen carriers is one of the key technologies. Perovskite-type oxygen carriers have attracted widespread attention due to their tunable oxygen transport capacity and favorable reactivity. In this study, the reduction, oxidation, and oxygen release reaction kinetics of CaMn0.625Ti0.125Fe0.125Mg0.125O3-δ oxygen carrier with and without CLOU properties were determined in a batch fluidized bed, focusing on the effects of temperature and reactant concentration. First, conversion-time curves for the reduction reactions with CH4, H2, and CO, as well as O2 oxidation and oxygen release reactions under various conditions, were obtained via isothermal analysis. Subsequently, classical gas–solid reaction kinetic models were employed to describe the reaction rates and determine the corresponding reaction mechanism models. Finally, kinetic parameters including reaction order, pre-exponential factor, and activation energy were obtained through Arrhenius fitting. The results show that the three-dimensional shrinking core model can adequately describe the reduction process. The kinetic parameters of CaMn0.625Ti0.125Fe0.125Mg0.125O3-δ with and without CLOU properties are as follows: With CLOU: Activation energies for reactions with CH4, H2, and CO are 92.453, 46.389, and 25.820 kJ/mol; reaction orders are 0.19, 0.88, and 0.80; pre-exponential factors are 61.67, 1.129, and 0.110, respectively. Without CLOU: Activation energies for reactions with CH4, H2, and CO are 74.149, 54.024, and 57.688 kJ/mol; reaction orders are 0.47, 0.67, and 0.67; pre-exponential factors are 5.782, 2.173, and 3.293, respectively. The developed kinetic model can accurately predict the evolution of oxygen carrier conversion over time at different temperatures and gas concentrations.
